Omaha Hi Lo: Fundamental Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for play from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once invisible variation, has grown in popularity so amazingly.
Omaha/8 begins just like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to every player. A sequence of wagering follows where gamblers can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. A further sequence of wagering happens. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. Another round of betting follows at which point the river card is revealed. The gamblers will need to put together the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a number of entrants often get flustered. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player has to use exactly three cards on the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It’s the identical notion in nearly all poker games.
A lower hand is more difficult, but really free’s up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the worst hand that can be put together, with the lowest value being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand takes the entire pot.
It may seem complicated at the outset, following a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the basic subtleties of the game with ease.
