Omaha Hi-Lo: General Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant game, has grown in acceptance so amazingly.
Omaha hi/low starts just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering follows in which gamblers can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are handed out, this is called the flop. One more round of betting ensues. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of betting ensues and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers will have to make the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where many players get baffled. Contrasted to Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the strongest possible hand out of everyone’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the same notion in just about every poker game.
The low hand is more complex, but really free’s up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand wins the entire pot.
Although it seems difficult at the start, following a couple of hands you will be able to get the basic subtleties of play easily enough. Seeing as you have people wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at once, Omaha Hi-Lo provides an overwhelming assortment of wagering possibilities and seeing that you have many individuals shooting for the high, and several trying for the low hand. If you love a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to play Omaha/8.
